Juniors play well in tough conditions

HEALESVILLE recorded a good win against Gembrook, which was what the team wanted, but it was disappointing for the Bloods to fall away in the last quarter. The first three quarters were very good in tough conditions.

Goals: M. Warren 4, B. Leddingham 2, S. Donkin, T. Larkin, J. Nugent, A. Wilkes, J. Young.

Another great win by Healesville. The play on and running style of football was great to see and paying dividends against all opposition. The Bloods backline, led by Corey McInerny and Ryan Veitch, supplied quality delivery to the forwards who converted at every opportunity. Jayden, Tyler, Curtis and Joe all combined with their mates from the backline and also the on-ball players including Alex and Hayden. Healesville has a big game against Wesburn this coming week and will be training hard to ensure maximum effectiveness.
Healesville 15.13.103 d Emerald 0.2.2.
Goals: T. Black 4, C. Wilkes 2, H. McKaskill 2, J. Thew 2, H. Pottage 2, A. Turner, R. Veitch, J. Gibson.
Awards: T. Black, J. Gibson, K. Jones, J. Thew, A. Turner, C. McInerny, R. Veitch.

Healesville was out gunned by the top side. The team played well in patches and probably won the second quarter, which was a big achievement against quality opponents. Courage and commitment from the captain showed the direction the team should be heading.
Gembrook-Cockatoo 16.6.102 d Healesville 4.5.29.
Goals: E. Murray 2, M. Jeffery, J. McLeod.

After two weeks off, it took the Bloods a quarter to get started. Great teamwork saw them kick six goals in the second quarter to set up another strong win.

The Healesville boys played a bit scrappy and the final score reflected it. The team needs to remember to play hard at the ball and man up.
Gembrook-Cockatoo 9.8.62 d Healesville 1.0.6.
Goals: T Heffernan.
Awards: W. Mackenzie, J. Fitcher, C. Pearson, J. Greenwood, T. Heffernan, D. Senior, L. McKenzie, J. Moore, L. Street.

Healesville was obviously still in holiday mode when the game started, which resulted in a lacklustre first quarter. The usual pressure and tackling was down on previous weeks, but with a good week on the training track their attitude and attack on the ball will return. Their efforts for the rest of the game showed that they listened to instructions better after quarter time.
Goals: R. Ashby 2.
Awards: J. Kennedy, M. Boyle, R. Greensill, M. Kerr, T. Ringel, B. Lucas, T. Hyde-Thomas, T. Wraith-Tenson, K. Brown, D. Pryor.

Yarra Junction

@BT Sport Sub Mail:Under 12

Yarra Junction put in a great effort and earned the respect of their Seville opponents. The game was played at a fast pace with lots of tackling and free running by the Eagles team. Talking and handball were very good and many players beat their opponents on the day. It was pleasing to see every player contributing in some way. The Eagles kept creating opportunities and made the Seville defence play their best to keep them out.
Best players: K. Galea, T. Long, J. Beeby, B. Harrington, S. Francis, J. Halsall.

Every player on both sides tried hard all day and neither team gave in. The young Eagles took the game up to Seville at every opportunity and except for the Blues better finishing in front of goals it was an even contest. Congratulations to Dillon who played his 50th game.
Best players: L. Thompson, D. O’Dea, M. Dobson, T. Reed, L. Winter-Annette.

Playing second on the ladder at home was always going to be hard, but the Wessie boys did all the hard things. Wesburn’s tackling and pressure was great and they fought it out to the final siren.

Goal: C. Shalevski.
Best: B. Jones, J. Juzwin, C. Shalevski, R. Gribble, T. Fall, L. Dyball.

Wesburn started well in the first quarter, but old habits came back the longer the game went on. All in all Wesburn had a few good passages of play, but not enough to overcome a good Emerald combo.

Best: W. Shepherd, D. Bedgood, J. Horsley, B. Chapman, J. Lee, C. Flynn.
