HOLIDAY visitors to Healesville Sanctuary had the chance to say ‘thankyou’ to the “heroes” of the February bushfires … ordinary people who did extraordinary things.
The resident veterinarian heroes were on deck sharing their experiences during the fires and those of their patients.
There was also the chance to give a pat on the back to firefighters, paramedics and police – all the emergency service people who worked to keep everyone safe and actively saved lives during the fires.
Bushfire mascot Roy the Leadbeater’s Possum was popular with the kids. He survived with a little help from his friends and was keen to spread the word about what could be done to help ensure the survival of his family in the wild.
