Degering does the trick

By Dennis Fuller
WAYNE Degering (21) found the going at Emerald Golf Club really to his liking when he peeled off an impressive 42 stableford points to win over-all and in C Grade. Others also found the going good as the CCR was set at 67 after play.
Peter Clowes (14) shot a very solid 38 points to claim the B Grade top spot and Greg Horrocks (12), in the middle of a hot trot, headed up the A Grade list with 41 points.
Paul Farmer managed 41 points as well, while Ryan Hocking had 40 and a clutch of golfers including Jeff Marsh, Ken Sumsion, Jack Keenan and John Fisher all carded 37 points.
Martin Yeats, while not figuring in the winners’ list, was nearest the pin on the fourth and he also picked up the pro-pin loot on the 18th. Con Whilock was closest on the seventh and Greg Horrock hogged the limelight by being nearest on the 12th and 13th.
Ryan Hocking won the Café Marte cappuccinos by being nearest after two shots on the 10th and Paul Farmer did the same trick on the 17th.
In the women’s event, Lyn Ward followed up her recent victory with another, when she had 36 points.
Wednesday’s Opulently Fashioned Golf (OFG) was won by Dennis Fuller by being the sole two-game matchplay winner. Mark Lothian cleaned up in the 19th hole putting competition.
Next Saturday’s event is a par event and members will, no doubt, be queuing up to get to the tee first.
