HEALESVILLE Scout Group members are back raising funds, after the fires put a temporary hold on their recycling ring.
The Scout Group was out of pocket in February when their Cash-a-Can trailer was burnt in the Black Saturday fires.
On the first and third Saturdays of each month, from 10am to noon, the can drop, run by parents and scouts behind the Healesville Post Office, was run as one of the group’s main fundraisers.
The trailer and a collection of cans were kept on a Chum Creek property and the troupe has been waiting for months to get a new one.
Healesville Scout Group president Sharon Walker said the Cash-a-Can was an important fundraiser for the Scouts and relied on public support and input.
“The Cash-a-Can is our most regular form of income. With the community’s support we could probably make it a lot better,” Ms Walker said.
She said the group had been borrowing a trailer while theirs was being replaced and it wanted to remind the public that the can drop-off was still operating.
“It’d be great for the community to remember that we are there and that they can help the Scouts and help to recycle by bringing their cans down to us,” she said.
Healesville Scout Group members and parents will be behind the Healesville Post Office for the next Cash-a-Can day this Saturday 16 May. For details phone 0427 200 364.
