CHEESE Freaks for foodies by day, and Rhythm and Red by night for music lovers.
Healesville’s popular Green Street café is gaining a reputation for its intimate music nights as well as its food.
Healesville couple Ewan and Nadine Cloonan and local music industry friends have orchestrated the Rhythm and Red nights to provide a stage for local and visiting musicians and an opportunity for people to get together to enjoy good music.
“We want to promote local talent but also bring artists from the city, both national and international performers in the folk world so people in Healesville don’t have to travel to the city to experience that type of entertainment,” Mr Cloonan said.
Western Australian singer Toby and Melbourne singer Chris Cavill were on stage for the fourth Rhythm and Red event on Friday night following in the footsteps of April Maze, The Hannafords, Shannon Kennedy and Peter Denehey.
The next Rhythm and Red will be held on Friday night, 22 May with local musician Dave Walker and Brazilian slide guitarist Paulo Silver on the bill.
Doors open at 7pm to allow time for a meal and a chat before the music starts. Fifty tickets are available for each event and can be purchased at Cheese Freaks.
