HEALESVILLE’S Donkin family took out the trifecta at the Yarra Junction Basketball Stadium earlier this month.
Dad Shane, daughter Elisha and son Luke, pulled off a hat-trick by winning three grand finals in a row.
Luke’s team, Healesville Heat started the ball rolling (or dribbling) in the under-14 boys, coached by Elisha won their game 52-45.
Elisha’s Team, Sub Zero, followed an hour later in the under-18 girls coming away with a narrow but effective 36-32 victory.
Last on the court was Shane’s team, the Healesville Sixers. Not to be outdone, playing in the men’s over-30s 2nd Division the Sixers won their game convincingly 31 to 14.
Back on court on Monday 13 April, Elisha added anothergrand final flag to her collection with her Wildcat Madcats team winning their grand final in the under-16 girls competition.
Mum, Marina, did her bit too, barracking from the sidelines and organising the drinks and food for the teams. The Donkins family motto just has to be “the family that plays basketball together, stays together!”
