WARBURTON’S Harmony Festival came to a colourful end last Sunday after five days of celebrating harmony through community and the arts.
The festival encompassed more than 30 events, most of them free, held in the Mechanics Institute Hall, Arts Centre and throughout Warburton.
Three of the Dalai Lama’s monks from the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery and Tibetan musician Tenzin Choegyal presented their Wisdom Buddha Mandala tour and staged a range of multi-phonic chanting performances, workshops and meditation classes.
Festival co-ordinator Dhanesh Trimmer said the festival was a great success in bringing different faiths, ethnicities and the immediate community together.
“I think it was a wonderful success. We had lots of positive feedback from the community and I think it served an important purpose in bringing people together after the bushfires,” Mr Trimmer said.
He estimated that 200 people had enjoyed demonstrations and activities throughout the course of the festival, that he hopes will become a regular event in Warburton.
“We had a really good turnout throughout the festival, a larger turnout than we had expected,” he said.
