HEALESVILLE musicians Jev Telford and Natasha-Lee will be sitting in the dark long after the final scene of “My Year Without Sex” has run.
“Everyone leaves the pictures at the end, but that won’t be us,” said Natasha-Lee who can’t wait to see the film. “We’ll be waiting there to see the credits – that will be the exciting part for us.”
What they will be looking for is “Upset Girl – The Honey Eaters”.
The song, written by Jev and sung by Natasha-Lee on the self-titled 2007 album, is part of the soundtrack on award-winning writer/director Sarah Watt’s second feature film.
Her first, Look Both Ways, won numerous awards including the AFI for Best Film and the Critic’s Award at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam.
My Year Without Sex was eagerly anticipated and has had excellent reviews after premiering at the Adelaide Film Festival in February.
Jev and Natasha-Lee have worked together for the past four years producing and marketing their Honey Eaters album in 2007 and marketing it on internet site CD Baby in America.
They both lead busy lives, so you won’t see them on the live music scene, but they are passionate about writing, producing and recording their own music.
“We are making our second set of music and that’s where our focus is at the moment,” Jev said.
They were thrilled last year when they were asked for permission to use the track.
The good news just got better and better when Mana Music announced a few weeks ago that they were putting together a soundtrack CD which would see Upset Girl – The Honey Eaters, sharing disk space with the likes of Little Birdie, Boom Crash Opera, Bananarama, The Vanguards, The Eels, Matt Davis, Emily Hayes, Bob Evans, The Audreys, and others.
There’s no doubt Jev and Natasha-Lee won’t be sitting in the dark picture theatre on their own when the credits run.
Both have a wide circle of proud family and friends who have enjoyed their music over the years and will be equally chuffed to join them as the credits roll.
The Honey Eaters’ CD featuring Upset Girl can be purchased direct from Jev on 5962 6070.
