ROUND six of the D. J. Strachan Shield became a one-day fixture after the first day of play was washed out.
Woori Yallock hosted Hoddles Creek, with the visitors dismissed for 73 as Damien Ryan ripped through the batting, taking 4/30. In reply, Woori Yallock reached 3/220cc, with Andrew Sharp making 100 not out.
In a nail-biter, Yarra Junction reached 9/167cc ( Stephen Flutter 45, Dan Lever 22, Aaroon Booth 3/56, Chris Anderson 2/36) but lost to home side Mount Evelyn, which scored 168 ( Andy Giblin 41, Kane Jones 36, Dan Lever 4/33 and Beau Hawkins 2/18 being the better performers).
Coldstream, at home, recorded its first points for the season with a good win against Launching Place United. Coldstream reached 7/142cc (Colin Rice 20, Troy Petterd 18, B Gromadovski 5/32) and Launching Place was out for 105, of which Heath Atkinson scored 47.
Gruyere District batted first, reaching 5/143cc after its 40 overs, with Luke Sarre (47) and Aaron Violi (40) among the runs. This score proved too much for Seville, which, in its allotted overs, made 8/129cc. Mark Johnson made a steady 40 while Matt Tilney bowled well, taking 3/19 off 10 overs.
Wandin, at home against Silvan, made 9/196cc, with Scott Hasan (63) and Gary Frankovic (56) being the best of the batsmen, and J. Lovell taking 5/54 off 10 overs. But, Silvan proved too strong, scoring 6/201 (Mark Appleby 49 not out, Clint Sharman 42).
