LILYDALE’s Fight ‘n’ Fitness club members Brandon Loebert, Arjen Jonker and Dylan Cochrane have hit their targets as winners in the Victorian Amateur Boxing League.
All three were successful at the annual end-of-year championships this month, with 12-year-old Brandon earning the title of schoolboys Victorian light-flyweight champion and 15-year-old Arjen becoming junior cruiserweight Victorian champion.
Dylan, 21, went on to be second in the senior middleweight Victorian championship after winning the elimination bout a week earlier.
While there were three sets of proud parents happy to see their boys return home with championship trophies, they were not all there to see them win, as Dylan’s mother can’t bear to watch her son fight. “My mum would probably cry if she saw me get hit. She’s just happy when I don’t come home with a blood nose,” Dylan said.
All boys have been training hard under the watchful eye of middleweight champion Nick Lundh, who praised the trio’s hard work, commitment and natural ability.
“All the boys have trained very hard and become exceptionally fit and skilled,” Lundh said.
