KNOX Little Athletics Centre’s 40th track and field season got underway last weekend.
For the first time in 10 years the first competition day opened with an athlete’s march around the track behind their club banner at Knoxfield’s Knox Park.
A 30 minute opening ceremony followed.
Guests included State and Federal MPs, Knox councillors, Australia Little Athletics CEO Adam Wallish, Victorian Little Athletics representatives and KLAC life members.
Sports Minister James Merlino presented last season’s state record holders Brooke Stratton, Charanja Thavendran and Spencer Browne with certificates.
Ferntree Gully MP Nick Wakeling and Scoresby MP Kim Wells presented new KLAC life members Allan Wright, Ann Goder and Dawn Vanderhorst with their awards.
Mr Wakeling then presented Knoxfield with last season’s best overall club shield.
