UTILITY vehicles from across the Yarra Valley will need all the strength they can muster, as they gear up for an annual competition in Wandin.
The second annual muster will see the most impressive utes awarded ribbons in a number of categories including Best Chick’s Ute.
The competition forms part of the 39th annual Wandin-Silvan Field Days, which will see Victorian farming’s elite machinery on display.
The muster was a huge success last year with Ford Performance Vehicles and older Holden HG model utes featuring.
Event secretary Nan Cleven said everyone was looking forward to the colourful competition, which should involve around 90 vehicles.
“We’re really keen for the muster to happen again,” she said.
Field days provides a chance for those in horticulture and agriculture to come together and share the latest in industry trends.
This means everything from welding to water storage, tractors to tupperware.
More than one hundred trade stands exhibited last year, and Ms Cleven believes the more, the merrier.
“There are prizes for the most attractive stands in each category as well as a President’s award,” she said.
Field days has evolved in to one of the largest farming industry days since its inception in 1970.
It now seeks displays from agriculturalists all over Australia.
Field days will be held at Wandin East Recreation Reserve on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 October.
