Large funds for cancer research

HEALESVILLE has once again supported Daffodil Day, this year raising almost $5000.
“Healesville will have two stalls set up at with the first at the Healesville walk and the second, outside the newsagency,” said Beth Honeycombe, the co-ordinator for the event.
“The people of Healesville responded magnificently to the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day Appeal.”
Daffodil Day is one of the largest fundraising events of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
The day is dedicated to raising money for cancer research, more educational programs and greater support for individuals and families struggling to come to terms with the disease.
“All of the money raised goes towards funds which will provide better cancer research,” she said.
This year is Ms Honeycombe’s third year of co-ordinating the program.
“A big thankyou to the volunteers who gave so much of themselves,” Ms Honeycombe said.
“Another big thankyou to Walter and Rita Lawrence for providing many beautiful daffodils, hand picked from their own farm.”
