COLDSTREAM shooter Craig Henwood was placed 31st in the men’s trap in his first shot at Olympic competition.
The shooting was one of the first events held after the spectacular opening ceremony with Henwood and his team-mate, two-time Olympic gold winner, Michael Diamond, competing on the weekend.
Henwood scored 109, far from his personal best, while Diamond lost out after a shoot-out with bronze-medallist, Russian, Alexey Alipov, after the qualifying rounds.
His mother Moira Henwood said Craig spoke with her on Sunday night.
“He’s down-hearted and disappointed but he said he did his best under the conditions,” she said.
“It’s his first Olympics and he will keep going. It’s in his blood.”
