ST JOSEPH’S School has celebrated 50 years since opening the school in Warburton and 21 years since opening in Yarra Junction.
Many current and ex-students, mums and dads, and members of the general public braved wet weather on Sunday.
Principal Peter Vanstan said the weekend was a celebration of the two anniversaries of the school.
“Rain didn’t spoil the atmosphere, and we saw so many familiar faces,” Mr Vanstan said.
The history of the school was on show, including memorabilia and old photos.
“We had many displays, classrooms open, and lots of children’s work on display,” Mr Vanstan said.
Entertainment included an animal farm, clowns, and face painting, a really family-friendly event.
St Joseph’s School officer, Sue Lucas, described the weekend as a huge success despite the rain.
“Saturday night’s dinner and light entertainment at the Cerini Centre was well attended,” Ms Lucas said.
She said a number of familiar faces were present over the weekend.
“Students from the first couple of years that we opened were there,” Ms Lucas said. “And many other members of the community enjoyed the music, displays and food on offer.
