AN EXCITING series of workshops will offer an opportunity for people with mental health issues to engage in theatre to explore stigma in mental health recovery.
Information sessions at Healesville and Yarra Junction on 8 August will provide details about the project which will be run by Xris Reardon of Third-Way Theatre.
The project, funded by the Besen Foundation, will provide places for up to 20 people with mental health issues, or their carers, who have an interest in the arts and theatre and the issue of stigma in mental health recovery.
Merran Macs of Eastern Access Community Health said workshops will start in mid-August.
“Third-Way will run the series of fun and stimulating workshops on Fridays at the Memorial Hall in Healesville for about seven weeks,” she said.
Lunch will be provided and some transport may be available.
“Performances will take place at the conclusion and an honorarium will be available to participants, however people do not need to commit to performance,” Ms Macs said.
She said it was essential that anyone interested in taking part attend an information session or make contact to indicate their interest.
