FINE weather over the weekend made it a great day for racegoers at Healesville Amateur Racing Club as Shiralee Waddell triumphed in style.
Riding on Switch Gold, Waddell raced to victory in only her second career race to clinch the Fosters Group Trophy Race Handicap.
Families made up most of the crowd along with some marquees with estimates suggesting around 2000 people attended on the Sunday.
East Malvern RSL sponsored one race with Fosters sponsoring the other five races.
The next race meetings take place on 4 February and 3 March.
The Healesville Cup will kick off on 7 April, Easter Saturday. Significant upgrades will take place after the cup, with plans to correct the track camber from the 800 metres to the 200 metres.
