Vineyard says cheers

ROCHFORD Wines is inviting the Yarra Valley community to “enjoy a concert on us”.
Angela Smith, Rochford’s new marketing manager, said the event featuring Renee Geyer, Diesel ‘unplugged’ and Mahalia Barnes was a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who had contributed to the success of Rochford’s summer concert season.
“As we wind down another successful season of great concerts and events, we want to take this opportunity to recognise the support of our neighbours throughout the year by presenting this free concert,” said Ms Smith who moved from Canada and is deliriously in love with Australia and, in particular, the Yarra Valley.
While Ms Smith says she can’t take credit for the idea behind the concert, she is fully supportive of it having worked in the non-profit sector before.
“I know how hard it is to fundraise and I think it’s a good fit between the community and the events that are held here,” she said.
She said many different community organisations, including fire brigades, schools and scouts help with the events in return for a donation to their cause.
“This concert is a nice way to round off a very successful season and a nice way to say thank you,” she said.
Five thousand tickets have been allocated for the event, which is jointly sponsored by Rochford and Clark Rubber.
It will take place on Easter Sunday, 8 April, with gates opening at 5.30pm.
The event is strictly no BYO food or beverage but VIP packages for $75 and a wine and food package for $30 are available and must be pre-booked.
There will also be a selection of food and wine for sale on site.
