THE BREWER’S Choice in Woori Yallock is your one stop shop for home brewing supplies, spirit essences, bar supplies and imported beers.
Owned and operated by former local real estate agent, Colin Penrose, who has been brewing for nearly 30 years, the store stocks over 100 imported beers, as well the supplies to make up to 20 different kinds of home brew.
“We’ve got some wonderful international beers from places like Germany, Belgium and England as well as a range of top end Australian boutique beers,” Mr Penrose said.
“We also stock a wide range of premium home brewing kits and supplies and lots of terrific gift ideas for special occasions and birthdays.”
The range of home brew beer varieties on offer include pilsners, lagers, wheat beer, brown ales, ciders and ginger beer.
“People are welcome to come in and try the different home brews before they buy and we’ve also go a home brew club for people to join,” Mr Penrose said.
Two of Mr Penrose’s regular customers, Dirk Maddicks from Woori Yallock and Darryn Goss from Monbulk, are happy to sing the praises of The Brewer’s Choice.
“I’ve been brewing my own beer for about five years and having a store like this in the Yarra Valley is great,” Mr Maddicks said.
“It used to be that you had to travel down the line to get the range and service Colin has in store. Colin has plenty of advice for people just starting out and his prices are very competitive.”
Mr Maddicks said brewing your own beer was not only enjoyable, but cost effective too.
“I can make a 20 litre keg of beer to my own particular taste for around $8, which is a big saving compared to a slab of beer for over $30,” he said.
“A lot of people think beer is just beer, but once you get into it you discover just how different each variety is and it can be very satisfying creating your own brews.”
