AN ambitious 18-year-old student has turned her awkward teenage years into a one-woman show.
Theresa Moolenschot will perform Stones and Ladders at The Barra Shed in Gladysdale, from October 20 to 25.
The Little Yarra Steiner School student embarked on the yearlong research project to prepare for the role, which she says, is only partly autobiographical.
“I took this project on because I wanted to tell the stories of what it was like to be a teenager in high school,” Ms Moolenschot said.
“Some of it is autobiographical although it’s more dramatic than my own experience.”
Ms Moolenschot describes Stones and Ladders as a personal adaptation of stories and plays dealing with ‘our teenage years.’
“It addresses the demands, struggle, confusion and often bullying that outlines a teenager’s journey from adolescence to adulthood,” Ms Moolenschot said.
“We follow one girl’s path from desperation, isolation and repression, through to the recognition of the basic rules surrounding social behaviour and ultimately gaining the strength to break away and become free.”
Stones and Ladders will be performed at The Barra Shed, 655 Little Yarra Road, in Gladysdale from October 20 to 25.
Tickets are available from the Little Yarra Steiner School on 5967 1953 or from Theresa on 5967 3870. Adult tickets are $10 and concession is $6.
