SET on two hectares in the leafy Yarra Junction area, the Upper Yarra RSL features a barbecue area and children’s playground providing the perfect setting for a family day out.
The Upper Yarra RSL also offers a range of exciting dining options for patrons. In addition to an extensive standard menu, there is a healthier choices menu, fabulous daily specials, gluten free and vegetarian options as well as a children’s menu and a seniors menu seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
Seniors who purchase a main meal from the seniors menu at lunchtime from Monday to Friday receive a complimentary soup or dessert of the day (excludes public holidays) and can show their seniors cards to receive a 20 per cent discount on main meals from the standard menu. The sub-branch also serves a selection of delicious home-made desserts, freshly ground espresso and an extensive wine list with a selection of Yarra Valley wines.
Head chef Tyrone McKenzie said the sub-branch was responding to an increased demand for healthier menu choices.
“We use gluten free ingredients to create traditional bistro favourites,” he said. “Dishes such as the Naked Parmigana and the Not So Creamy Carbonara are designed for diners who are conscious of the waistlines,” Mr McKenzie said.
“In recent times we have noticed the number of people looking for gluten free options has increased and we are more than happy to accommodate our patron’s dietary needs in any way we can.”
“All up, without special deals and daily specials boards and regular menu, the Upper Yarra RSL has one of the most extensive menus in the Yarra Valley.”
Mr McKenzie has also introduced a bonus for Service, Affiliate and Social members of the Upper Yarra RSL of the Upper Yarra RSL Sub-Branch.
“Thursday night is member’s night and we now offer our full members a discount off our special menu prices on presentation of their current membership card on Thursday nights,” Mr McKenzie said.
The sub-branch hosts a community member’s cash draw and raffle every Saturday night between 7 and 8pm. Guests are invited to visit and find out about the benefits of becoming members at Upper Yarra RSL.
It’s a chocoholic’s dream come true with some terrific Easter raffles on display at the sub-branch. The raffles will be drawn in the first week of April so pop in and grab your tickets soon.
The Annual Footy Tipping competition is up and running also and entries close at 10pm on 29 March. See the sub-branch for full terms and conditions.
