RSL dishes up a dining delight

COME on in … the dining’s fine!
That’s the message from Upper Yarra RSL as the popular sub-branch embarks on its long-awaited redevelopment of the facility at Yarra Junction.
Chef Tyrone McKenzie said last week patrons can be assured of the usual friendly welcome, excellent range of exciting dining options and, overall, a great day out at Upper Yarra RSL.
In addition to the extensive standard menu, there is a healthier choices menu, fabulous daily specials, gluten-free and vegetarian options as well as a children’s menu and a seniors menu seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
The seniors menu from Monday to Friday offers a two-course option with a choice of soup and a main, or a main and dessert. Seniors are also treated to a 20 per cent discount off meals from the standard menu.
Included in the children’s menu is a complementary dessert and soft drink.
“All up, with our special deals and daily specials boards and regular menu, the Upper Yarra RSL has one of the most extensive menus in the Yarra Valley,” Mr McKenzie said.
Inclusion of a range of lighter-style meals is designed to provide more cafe-style options for people who aren’t looking for the type of hearty meal Upper Yarra RSL is famous for.
There are, however, still plenty of those hearty meals on the menu – meals such as bangers and mash and lambs fry and bacon are obvious favourites.
A constant changing specials menu is also on display featuring dishes such as whole lamb rump braised with sun dried tomato, fetta and spinach on a bed of sweet potato mash, king rib-eye steak, Thai green curry prawns, Chinese stir-fries and risotto balls.
People with special dietary requirements, including vegetarians and diabetics, can request special meals minus specific ingredients by simply asking the staff.
The sub-branch also serves a selection of delicious home made desserts, freshly ground espresso and an extensive wine list with a selection of Yarra Valley wines.
There’s plenty happening at Upper Yarra RSL. For bookings and enquiries please call 5967 1771.
