FAMILIES can celebrate National Children’s Week from 21 to 28 October with events at Healesville, Warburton, Upwey, Lilydale Lake and Mooroolbark.
A mini film festival, an expo and a pram stroll are all part of Children’s Week celebrations the Shire of Yarra Ranges has planned to mark 2007 National Children’s Week.
Shire of Yarra Ranges mayor Tim Heenan said Children’s Week celebrated the right of children to enjoy childhood.
“The shire is proud to support this important event because it provides an opportunity to increase understanding on the importance of early childhood,” he said.
This year’s Children’s Week theme is Celebrating Playing for Life which involves five events throughout the week.
The Darren Honey Centre in Healesville will play host to a free Fun 4 Kids Day on Wednesday 24 October from 10.30am until 1pm.
The day will include fun activities including face painting, a clown, a puppet show and story time.
A special guest from Healesville Sanctuary will be a star attraction between 11.30am and noon.
The day is presented by Yarra Valley Community Health Service.

The Warburton Children’s Mini Film Festival will be held on Saturday 27 October at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre from 11am until 4pm.
The festival, run in partnership with Upper Yarra Film Society and Eastern Regional Libraries, will include story time between 1pm and 2pm.
Upwey Kidfest is on again on Sunday 28 October from 10am to 4pm, with a day of activities for children of all ages to enjoy.
The annual festival in celebration of kids and families is presented by parents from the Sherbrooke Children’s Centre.
A 30th birthday party is part of the day’s celebration.
