SEYMOUR MP Ben Hardman visited Badger Creek Primary School recently to induct members of the Junior School Council.
Student welfare officer Julie Kugler said the visit was a tremendous show of support for the school.
“Becoming a representative on the junior school council is a major triumph for many of our students,” Ms Kugler said.
“Mr Hardman’s presence allowed them to see the fantastic achievement they had made.”
She said the JSC helped showcase the school’s progression in student wellbeing since beginning its welfare program in 2005.
“The school values its student leadership in an effort to give children a stronger voice within the schooling community,” Ms Kugler said.
“We believe in giving children the chance to develop the skills that will see them become future leaders themselves.
“Having a local politician such as Mr Hardman induct the students into the council was the perfect way to pass on this message.”
Senior students Leonnie and Mia said Mr Hardman’s visit was an exciting addition to their morning assembly.
They said Mr Hardman was very interested in the school and what the junior school council does.
“What he talked about was very thoughtful. It means a lot to us to have someone like Mr Hardman come to our school,” Leonnie said.
“It is about being a good role model to the younger kids … sort of the same thing Mr Hardman does,” Mia added.
