THE MAGIC fragrance of lavender, bagpipes playing your favourite Scottish tunes, highland dancing, baton twirling, demonstrations and local foods, wines and beer are just a small sample of the entertainment in store at the Lavender Harvest Festival to be held at Wandin on Sunday, 27 November.
Warratina Lavender Farm has hosted this family festival for seven years now in support of the local Wandin, Seville, Silvan and Gruyere CFA units.
The highlight of the day is the harvest of Warratina’s lavender fields, a spectacular sensory experience with traditionally dressed harvesters making their way through the rows and the air filled with fragrance.
Other attractions include school bands, boot scooting, an old-time machinery display and craft demonstrations including lace-making, spinning and wood-turning.
Lavender scones and lavender ice-cream will be some of the more unusual delicacies to be enjoyed between all the activity. Lavender fresh from the field will also be available on the day.
Warratina Lavender Farm is at 105 Quayle Road, Wandin Yallock. Phone 5964 4650.
