HEALESVILLE’S Thursday morning netball has provided an opportunity over many years for women, from young mums to tertiary students, women in business, and grandmothers, to stay fit and enjoy the company of other women.
The competition has dwindled over the past year or so and is calling for new players – or teams – to join them and revive the competition.
Local business woman Joanne Tate has been playing for several years, as have young mum Jo Smith, whose young children are cared for in the creche, and Barb Staehali, who works part-time, and as an older team-member enjoys the opportunity to participate in a sport she loves and stay fit.
“The pace is pretty basic,” Ms Tate said. “Anyone who likes to go for a walk, or get a bit of exercise would feel right at home.
“We have a great time and it’s a fantastic way to meet new people,” she said.
The competition is held at the ECA Centre at Healesville High School on Thursday mornings. For more information call in, or phone Jennifer Kennedy on 5962 4084.
