AN INSPIRATIONAL musical event to be held in Warburton on Saturday will raise funds to help establish a men’s shed in Yarra Junction.
Advent Brass, an award winning band, will perform Inspiration, a musical interpretation of the Easter story by Jan de Haan.
Launching Place resident Ken Mead is a patron of the band and will narrate the story.
Mr Mead had described the performance as “an hour of brilliant music” with a special generational aspect to it.
The band was established in 1924 with W.J. Gilson as its first conductor. He was followed by his son, Bruce and his son Reynold is the third and current conductor.
Reynold’s son Jarrod, the current Australian Flugelhorn champion, plays in the band.
The band received the top award for its presentation of Inspiration in the 2007 National Band Competition.
The talent line-up includes the operatic voice of Helena Ring and the compelling narration of Mr Mead.
The Warburton Adventist Church is hosting the program.
“The last event we did was to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
“This time we are doing in conjunction with EACH (Eastern Access Community Health) which is setting up a men’s shed in Yarra Junction.”
The men’s shed program provides a place for men to spend time renewing a past skill, or learning a new skill, a place to meet others and a place to chat about men’s issues.
There will be an opportunity during the program to make a donation.
Inspiration by Advent Brass will be presented at Warburton Adventist Church in Warburton on Saturday 15 March at 11am.
