THE OWNER of a massive timber-slab sign stolen from Chum Creek is offering a reward for its return.
Imants Zitars had the sign “Lake Lubana” made four years ago as a reminder of his hometown of Lubana in Latvia.
The sign was made by Healesville craftsman Shane Voce from a single slab of cedar and is more than four metres long.
Mr Zitars’ brother Val said the sign was stolen during the night a few weeks ago.
“It would have taken three or four people to lift it and it would have needed a trailer or some sort of truck to take it away,” Mr Zitars said.
He said the most likely use anyone could make of the sign was as a table or bench top and he is hoping someone who knows where it has ended up will contact the family on 5962 1682 or police on 5962 4422 or 9735 1066.
