FANTASTIC spring weather, an eight race harness racing program, spectacular fashions on the field and Makybe Diva’s sensational Melbourne Cup win on the big screen all came together to make Cup Day at Yarra Glen one of the most exciting ever.
Yarra Valley Racing spokesperson, Rebecca Morris, said more than 8000 people flocked to the track to harness their share of Victoria’s premier racing day. Like the horses, the roses were in fine form, creating a colourful foreground to the track and the bookies and the TAB was buzzing as punters took advantage of the opportunity to have a bet on the gallops and the trots.
“It was just a perfect day,” Ms Morris said.
“We had quite a few dress-ups, more categories and great entries in our fashions on the field, and an abundance of mini marquees booked for the day as well as our corporate marquees.
“Cup Day is our biggest harness meeting and, because it is Cup Day, people just want to get into the spirit of it all. It went down a treat!”
