HEALESVILLE Physiotherapy has been providing service to the people of the Yarra Valley and beyond for over 10 years.
Resident physiotherapists, practice principal Mark Quittner and Alan Norman have expanded the clinic to incorporate exciting new developments and techniques to further advance their ability to improve the health and wellbeing of clients.
The clinic has a well appointed gymnasium for rehabilitation and fitness, advanced electromedical equipment including pulsed magnetic field therapy for bruising such as ‘corked thigh’, and is the only place in Australia currently using the Tinnihelp Laser for tinnitus treatment.
Both Mr Quittner and Mr Norman, who have 35 years of combined experience in treating the human body, are trained to use Trigger Point Dry Needling techniques to improve recovery speed, and treat resistant problems. They use a Sports Medicine approach, which is very different to Chinese acupuncture, the aim being to relax overtight muscle.
Physiotherapists obtain a University Bachelor of Science degree level of training, and are recognised as primary care practitioners, which means that a doctor’s referral is not required (other than WorkCover, Veterans’ Affairs, and Medicare EPC).
Physiotherapists are able to work side by side with doctors in hospitals and in other health environments, and many therapists work exclusively in hospitals.
Physiotherapists choose not to use the title of doctor, which helps avoid potential confusion.
“Physiotherapy can treat all back, neck, joint, and limb problems, including headache, chronic pain, postural problems, work and sporting injury, tinnitus, fibromyalgia, nerve tethering, sciatica and discal injury, regional pain syndromes, and many other ailments,” Mr Quittner said.
Both Mr Quittner and Mr Norman continue to undertake educational training to maintain excellence and their commitment to patient service is demonstrated by Healesville Physiotherapy winning Australian Achiever Highly Recommended Awards for customer service in 2002, 2003, and 2005, with a category win for the entire Melbourne area in 2004.
“It is our intention to provide accurate, cost effective treatment. We do not sign you up to ongoing therapy, but teach you how to manage the condition thereby preventing or minimising the need for treatment. See us and save,” Mr Norman said.
Healesville Physiotherapy is at 252 Maroondah Highway, Healesville and con be contacted on 5962 4615.
