TASMANIAN expat Brenda Hickson wasn’t quite ready to part with her “treasures” when she moved from the island to Warburton.
And, that’s worked out well for Upper Yarra SES.
The reality of downsizing has seen Ms Hickson collaborating with the SES to put on a weekend garage sale, which will benefit them both.
“I had a lovely old house in Tasmania and couldn’t bear to part with many of the beautiful furniture items and other furnishings I had collected over the years,” she said.
“There is a container load of things including art deco mirrors, handwoven rugs, a magnificent huon pine antique coffee table and much more, which is coming out of storage for the sale,” Ms Hickson said.
The SES will get a percentage of the takings and, no doubt, there will also be some very happy buyers as well.
The garage sale is on 17 and 18 May from 8am to 4pm at the Wesburn SES Centre (next to Wesburn Park) on the Warburton Highway.
