ONE of the first things Hoddles Creek Primary School principal John McAlvie did when he arrived at the school earlier this year was apply for funding for a new flag pole.
McEwen MP Fran Bailey visited the school last week to officially present the pole.
“In the past the school hadn’t had a workable flag pole so basically nobody could remember the last time the flag came out of the cupboard,” Mr McAlvie said.
Now, it is flown every day.
The visit also gave the students the chance to thank Ms Bailey for her role in securing a $7,379 grant under the Federal government’s Investing in Our Schools Program, which provided sports equipment, softfall for the playground and a pump to distribute rain water from the school’s watertank around the school.
