BABY Sophie Fraser has her wheels back – thanks to the kind-hearts and generous pockets of Healesville Masonic Lodge members.
The Mail reported in January that six-month-old Sophie’s new three-wheeler pram and a bright pink booster seat belonging to her big sister, Teaneil, had been stolen from the porch at the family’s Maroondah Highway home.
“It touched our hearts when we read about it,” said Lodge member Neville Dale. “People reached into their pockets straight away to help out.”
Lodge Master Ian Goddard and members Jim Crow, Mark Balfour and Mr Dale not only delivered a racy new pram to mum Lisa Fraser and her daughters last week but, in an impressive team effort, assembled it for them.
They also handed Lisa an $80 gift voucher to further brighten her day.
Mr Goddard said the Lodge supported a number of good causes and members were very happy to be helping to get the Fraser family rolling again.
Lisa said the offer to replace the pram came as a wonderful surprise after such a disappointing experience.
“To get the new pram is such a thrill, but with the voucher we will be able to replace some of the toys and the raincover which were on the pram; that’s an even bigger surprise,” she said.
“We just can’t thank them enough.”
