HEALESVILLE muso David Johnston will perform his last gig with The Heartstarters at the Grand Hotel in Healesville on Sunday.
“After four years of good times, great music, fantastic gigs and some terrible gigs, late nights, long drives, big laughs, sore heads and tired bodies, Dave has decided to leave the band,” said band member Jeff Jenkins.
Johnston has been drummer with Jeff Jenkins’ Late Starters and The Heartstarters.
“Dave has been a passionate contributor to the original music of the band and is well known in music circles as the drummer who stands up while playing and singing,” Jenkins added.
“We want to give him a fitting farewell.”
His last show will be at the Grand Hotel, but for anyone who can’t make the final balcony performance, Heartstarters are also playing at the NightHawk Blues Bar in Mentone on the 23 November and at the Mt Evelyn Music Festival the next day.
The band will be playing on the balcony of The Grand from 3pm to “sixish”, playing their classic crowd favourites, some rockin’ originals.
“We’ll be playing a few of the old originals that many of the punters have loved over the years, so come on up and join us and let’s send Dave off in style,” Jenkins said.
New drummer Stuart Aldridge, also a Healesville local, will join the Heartstarters for their next Healesville gig on 16 December at The Grand.
