JENNY and Les Dovaston celebrated 45 years of marriage on 28 August.
The couple opened their home and their hearts to share the occasion with the many family members and friends who have accompanied them on their journey.
Jenny said it was a special occasion because so many of their friends were able to join them including two of their three bridesmaids.
Jenny’s connection with Healesville goes back to 1930 when her father opened a garage in the town.
She was just 15 and still at school and Les was 16 when they met in 1955.
They were married at Healesville Uniting Church on 28 August 1960.
Although Jenny and Les moved to Doncaster for 16 years they returned with their children, Leanne and Glenn, to their weekender in Healesville every weekend.
Their involvement in the community has included callisthenics, scouts and, for Jenny, 21 years as a religious instructor in local primary schools.
A change is in the wind for the Dovaston family members who are planning a move to Marysville where they are working on a new business venture.
Jenny said the evening was an opportunity to show their gratitude to the many wonderful people they know and love in Healesville.
