PHILIP and Helen Higgins are true ‘East Enders.
They have operated the East End Newsagency for 31 years, following on from Philip’s mum, Sadie, who ran a newsagency in the East End from about 1967.
They have seen businesses come and go and it’s fair to say that for many of Healesville’s older residents from that end of town, who walk down as a ritual to pick up the paper each day, Philip and Helen are a constant in their lives.
Our East Enders photograph reveals the diversity of the shopping strip with 30 businesses catering for everything from food, clothing and entertainment, to health and safety needs, sport and recreation, beauty, computers, animal and automotive to the news … and views East End traders are always up for a chat! The soontoopen Innocent Bystander Winery, and the development of the new boutique brewery will bring a new emphasis on tourism to that end of town.
It will also provide employment and add three different businesses to Healesville’s economy for the enjoyment of local residents.
