YOU Scream Ice Cream has now moved to a new location but the new surroundings are not the only additions to this growing business.
Poppy McFarlane and her family have grown their business to include The Jungle Bar and Grill as well as an internet café to stand beside their ice cream business.
Mrs McFarlane described her decision for the move as a need to expand the business.
“This place has kitchen facilities, a full kitchen, woks and grills so we can do Asian and European cooking,” Mrs McFarlane said.
“It has cool rooms and facilities that will allow us to run a restaurant and an ice cream parlour along with lots of space to create a relaxed atmosphere.”
Introducing a lounge area and fully licensed bar to the business will allow Mrs McFarlane to expand the business to a new type of clientele as well as catering for its regular customer base.
As summer ends and winter approaches, Mrs McFarlane said she was looking forward to the changing pace of the new venture.
She said that as the demand for ice cream declines she hopes that regulars will continue to visit the bar and grill.
“We will offer a full international menu all year round and we will be open from 11am until 11pm each and every day,” Mrs McFarlane said.
The introduction of the internet cafe will also add a new aspect of You Scream, providing computers with internet access and in the near future the ability for customers to access Wi Fi internet.
“Soon people will be able to use their own laptops to surf the web. They can sit in our comfortable lounge and have a coffee or a glass of wine,” Mrs McFarlane said.
Mrs McFarlane and her staff invite you to help celebrate You Scream’s birthday on Friday 29 February.
“The theme for the birthday celebrations will be jungle costume to match the theme of the jungle bar.
“The best dressed will be awarded with a voucher to spend in the bar and grill,” Mrs McFarlane said.
A full buffet will be available for $35 a head.
“You can eat until you are full,” Mrs McFarlane said.
An auction will be held during the celebrations where customers can bid for bottles of wine, free dinner vouchers and an array of quality gifts.
Mrs McFarlane said 20 per cent of takings on the evening will go to charity.
She said that the lounge also provided room for major sporting events to be watched on the wide screen television and that she was looking to introduce poker nights to the venue.
You Scream Ice Cream is now at 271 Maroondah Highway, Healesville.
