WHEN the cold snap hits, that’s when people start to think about carpets.
Trevor Hanley, who with Linda Thomas, took over Upper Yarra Carpets just over a year ago, are doing their bit to keep Yarra Valley residents warm underfoot with a July stocktake sale.
“July is one of our busiest times, and in the bedrooms especially when people are looking for warmth they naturally think of carpets and rugs,” Trevor said.
Upper Yarra Carpets has expanded its supplier base to provide greater choice and has stocked up with a lot of specials, including handpicking a range of rugs.
Trevor says they will be able to move at a very good price.
Having been in the industry for more than 20 years, Trevor is well placed to provide advice on the vast range of carpets in terms of style, suitability and durability.
“The emphasis is still very much on a carpet which is easy to clean and one that is hardwearing,” he said of the criteria people set when they set out to carpet their home.
When it comes to fashion, Trevor said darker and self patterns are very much “in” at the moment – replacing the pastels.
Wool berbers and high/lows with the low level loop patterns are also popular with country customers.
Householders planning on updating their floor coverings can call in at the shop in Yarra Junction with their house plans, or Trevor will be happy to go out to the home with samples and give a free measure and quote.
Upper Yarra Carpets also caters for indoor and outdoor blinds.
Cameron Passlow has been associated with Upper Yarra Carpets for the past 15 years providing a full measure, quote and fit service on made-to-measure blinds.
Blinds include vertical, Roman, Venetian in timber and aluminium, Holland and outdoor awnings.
Trevor and Linda have a customer-focused philosophy based on ensuring their customers not only get top quality service and products, but that they receive excellent value for money.
Trevor’s tip for July is “if anyone wants a rug, now is the time to buy”.
“We’re selling a lot of discontinued rugs at bargain prices. We want to clear them and they are priced accordingly,” he said.
Upper Yarra Carpets is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday.
