A PAINTING purchased in Papua New Guinea by Healesville resident Sheila Wood is being raffled to raise funds for Healesville Interchurch Community Care Inc (HICCI).
The painting, an original work by PNG artist Kadek Wijaya, was purchased by Ms Wood during a trip some years ago.
HICCI, a network of local Christian churches provides volunteer services to Healesville and surrounding communities including emergency relief, transport services and the weekly community meal “Dinner at Darron’s”.
The member churches include the Anglican, Catholic, Healesville Christian Fellowship, Healesville Community Church, Liberty family Church, Salvation Army and Uniting Church.
The colourful painting, and the aroma of sizzling sausages, proved effective drawcards recently when HICCI staff and volunteers held an information session at their Community Services Annexe in Healesville.
Along with information on what HICCI does in the community, was the message that there is a great need for volunteers to help deliver the various programs.
For information on what becoming a HICCI volunteer involves, or to purchase a raffle ticket – drawn on 31 March – call into the HICCI office at 231 Maroondah Highway, Heales-ville, or phone 5965 3529.
