Big prep intake at St Joseph’s

By Melissa Meehan
AT St Joseph’s School in Yarra Junction, 2008 is going to be an exciting year for all.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of St Joseph’s School in the Upper Yarra and the 21st anniversary of the school being located in Yarra Junction.
The celebrations started off with the school’s biggest ever prep student intake, 38 students.
Principal Peter Vanstan said he was pleased with such a large intake this year.
“We have 38 prep students this year, I think it’s the largest we’ve ever had, which is wonderful,” Mr Vanstan said.
When asked for the reasons for such a big number of prep students, Mr Vanstan said it was due to the really good staff at the school.
“We have done a lot of good things, and the staff are great,” Mr Vanstan said.
Now with a total student population of 185, Mr Vanstan said it was the biggest number since he started at the school four years ago.
“We are all looking forward to a great year ahead,” Mr Vanstan said.
The school has also introduced two new classrooms for junior school students to cope with the high intake.
