SEVILLE mosaic artist, Brooke Taylor, is one of 16 talented musicians and artists who will be passing on their knowledge and passion for their craft at the 2006 Summer School of Music and Art in Healesville.
Run by the Yarra Valley Arts Council the Summer School is now in its 10th year and has become a much anticipated event, providing a spectacular environment for people to enjoy various areas of the performing and visual arts.
Tuition is given in a series of workshops by professional artists who encourage and extend students of all ages and abilities.
For Ms Taylor, a self-taught artist who started mosaics as a relaxation in 2002, the Summer School is an additional opportunity to share her talent and love of the craft.
As an established artist she teaches classes and workshops at Mooroolbark Community Centre and has undertaken a number of solo commissions.
Ms Taylor will take a one and a half day workshop for adults and will also be doing mosaics as part of the Arts For Kids program.
The Summer School program also includes choir, jazz improvisation, chamber music, a capella singing, pastel drawing, watercolour painting, contemporary painting, jewellery making, sculpture for the garden, mandalas, glass sculpture, embroidered landscapes and gardens, life drawing, mixed media drawing and painting on paper, fabric painting, film-making for youth and the four and a half day Arts for Kids program.
The Summer School runs from Monday, 9 January to Friday, 13 January with workshops and courses ranging from one day to five days with fees scheduled accordingly.
Applications close on Friday, 16 December. Phone Rita or Jeni on 5962 6423 or 0423 932 483 for further information and application forms.
