MEMBERS of Yarra Valley Legacy War Widows Association last week celebrated 50 years of friendship, support and, most importantly, according to president Myra Healey, fun.
The ladies, who meet at the Upper Yarra RSL on the first Wednesday of each month, celebrated with a birthday lunch at the Upper Yarra RSL. Guests included members of Monbulk Legacy and Upper Yarra RSL Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Mrs Healey said the gettogether had been a wonderful way to mark half a century of support for the widows of servicemen.
What do Legacy ladies do these days?
“They do what they like,” Mrs Healey said. “Most of us are getting on and at this time of our lives, we just want to do fun things. We have outings, we’ve had a mock wedding and our own Academy Awards day … just things that are fun.”
Mrs Healey said she would be happy to talk with women who are widows of exservicemen who may like to join their happy group.
She can be contacted on 5967 1324.
