YARRA Ranges’ newest art gallery, Three Stories gallery, hosted the opening of local art talent Paul Sonsie’s solo exhibition at the weekend.
Mr Sonsie was invited to exhibit at Three Stories gallery after being discovered at the Art Melbourne 08 exhibition, at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne, earlier this year.
Three Stories gallery director, Ali Griffin said, “although Paul has previously exhibited in other shows, this is his first solo exhibition.”
The 24-year-old counts renowned surrealist artist Salvador Dali as his greatest inspiration.
“I’m experimenting using colour at the moment, and trying to get out of my comfort zone to create something completely unique,” Mr Sonsie said.
The exhibit features a variety of paintings depicting the extremes of nature.
Mr Sonsie said, “I paint nature, water, fire, weather anything without restraints”.
“I’m just trying to get my name out, and find a new groove that no one has seen before,” he said.
Griffin said “It is really exciting to be a part of Paul’s journey into the art world.”
The exhibition is open on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm, and will run until the 22 June.
