Ease the pain

MORE than 40 women came together to discuss family violence last week.
Sisters Day Out, organised by the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service (FVPLS), offered a safe and sensitive environment for both indigenous and non-indigenous women to discuss important community issues.
Organiser Antoinette Braybrook said by including a pampering session women felt more comfortable with their surroundings.
The women were treated in style and enjoyed having their hair styled by local hairdressers, manicures, pedicures and a full body massage.
She said she was pleased that so many women had come together to discuss family violence.
“It’s wonderful to be able to offer education to women in a relaxing environment,” Ms Braybrook said.
“And it’s great that women from all around Victoria can come together and talk about their experiences.”
The day was held at Sanctuary House in Healesville and is part of a 12 month project that will travel across Victoria including Shepparton, Echuca, Dandenong, Geelong, Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and Gippsland.
The FVPLS provides legal services to Aboriginal victims or survivors of family violence and sexual assault, including women, men and children.
They can also assist non-indigenous parents and carers of Aboriginal children who are victims or survivors of family violence.
