ANIMAL Aid is asking the community to take a stand against a growing culture of disposable pets by supporting the “It’s a Dogs Breakfast” at Lilydale Showgrounds on Sunday, 26 February.
Animal Aid spokeswoman Karen Blizzard said about 200,000 domestic animals are put down in Australia each year.
“This huge figure is unacceptable,” she said.
Ms Blizzard said Animal Aid believes education is the answer.
“The event aims not only to educate the community about the grim reality that faces the many homeless animals, but about every facet of responsible pet ownership,” she said.
Breakfast and other fun events will take place between 8am and 11am.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for pensioners and children and $30 for a family, include breakfast and a doggy show bag.
