FORMER Yarra Valley resident Leone Martin has taken the top prize in a national small business competition.
Ms Martin, who grew up in Millgrove and Don Valley, was announced last week as the winner of the ING Direct Optimise My Business competition.
She beat 1700 other small business operators from across the country to take out the prize with her organic hair care business, EverEscents.
The former Upper Yarra Secondary College student, who moved to Queensland two years ago, has won $10,000 and five days with five business specialists who will help her develop her business. She has also been filmed and interviewed by Channel 7’s My Business team while in Sydney and got to have lunch with Sunrise presenter David Koch on his yacht.
“I am jumping out of my skin with excitement. Achieving this national recognition for EverEscents Organic Hair Care is absolutely amazing,” Ms Martin said.
“EverEscents started as nothing more than a passion to create an ethical and organic hair care range exclusively for salons.
“We are now recognised across Australia as the leader in organic hair care products – it is so amazing and very cool.” – Dion Teasdale
