SPRING flowers and foliage will take centre stage on both sides of the Divide over the next few weeks.
Marysville gardens
Two Marysville gardens will go on show this weekend as part of the Alexandra Open Garden Weekend.
Anastasia Scott’s garden at 45 Lyell Street and Pat and Len Sund’s garden at 8 Keppel Court will be open on 28 and 29 October. Phone 5773 4212.
Flower Festival
The Marysville and District Country Club’s Flower Festival on 4 and 5 November is a chance to join in some friendly competition as an entrant, or to just wander among the prize-winning flowers and plants.
Helen Williams and Belinda Snider have organised the event, which is a return to the old-fashioned flower show. There are 14 categories suitable for all ages and children are encouraged to enter.

Steels Creek
The Yarra Glen Red Cross is hosting an open garden, plant sale and display and sale of botanical art at ‘Blackwood Hill’, 375 Pinnacle Lane in Steels Creek on Saturday, 28 October. Entry of $5 includes a delicious Devonshire tea.

Upper Yarra gardens
Six gardens from Hoddles Creek to Warburton will be open as part of the Upper Yarra Garden Club’s annual Open Gardens Weekend on 4 and 5 November.
A 2007 calendar featuring members’ gardens is included in the six garden entry fee of $18. Single garden entry is $5. Calendars can be purchased separately for $10.
