ENTRIES for the seventh Yarra Glen Art Show close this Friday.
The exhibition has become an integral part of the Easter long weekend for many artists and art-lovers.
It started when local people had an idea to showcase local Yarra Valley artists and a vision of one day having enough funds to have a permanent gallery and studio space for local artists and the community.
From a simple beginning, the Yarra Glen art show has grown so much in popularity that over 50 volunteers and 500 artworks including painting, sculpture and pottery are exhibited in the new facilities at Balgownie Estate Vineyard on Melba Highway at Yarra Glen over four days each Easter.
Last year saw more than 3400 visitors pass through the show to view the wide range of art works.
Commissions raised from the sale of artworks this year will go to The Good Friday Appeal.
The common goal of the iconic appeal is to raise money for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, and to ensure that all children with life-threatening illnesses receive the best possible medical and clinical care.
The show is open from Good Friday through to Easter Monday.
