LOCALS and visitors are being invited to Gulf Station in Yarra Glen for a fresh dose of food, wine, art, music and air.
Fresh, an art and farmers market, is held at the historic homestead on the fourth Sunday of every month.
The market celebrates all things fresh, bringing goods direct from the wine maker, food producer, grower and artist. It features up to 20 boutique wineries under the one roof and up to 100 different wines to sip, quaff and purchase.
The market is also home to gourmet foods ready for a picnic hamper, as well as fresh flowers, herbs, olives, and biodynamic fruits and vegetables.
It also houses unique local art, live music performances, and an impressive range of handmade skin care products made from regional ingredients.
“For budding chefs and foodies, Yarra Valley Fresh is your chance to find out how best to use these regional ingredients direct from the maker,” Gulf Station property manager Margaret Cooper said.
Ms Cooper said Fresh was more than a market.
“A feature of the day is the venue – Historic Gulf Station,” she said.
“A National Trust listed heritage property, Gulf Station is a unique and living museum showcasing original farm buildings, domestic tools, artefacts and rare Scottish breeds of farm animals, including the famous Clydesdales.”
The next market will be held on Sunday, 26 November from 10am to 4pm.
Entry to the event also includes a free tour of Gulf Station’s heritage house, farm buildings and rare breeds of farm animals.
Entry fees are $8 for adults, $5 for children, $6 for National Trust members and pre-booked groups of 10.
