THE Shire of Yarra Ranges has made available to all residents the findings of the recent 2006 Census on its website.
Residents can now search the website to find out information regarding how many people live in the Yarra Ranges, the average age groups of residents living in the shire, and other data in relation to occupations, housing, birthplaces of other residents living in the Yarra Ranges.
Mayor Tim Heenan said that data captured in the 2006 Census is crucial to communities, private institutions and all levels of government in planning services and facilities.
“It’s very important for groups as well as individuals to have ready access to this information, and that’s exactly what’s available on the shire’s website,” Cr Heenan said.
Cr Heenan said that that the shire had analysed and presented the Census information in a very user-friendly format, to allow a better understanding to the Yarra Ranges communities and their needs.
“And it’s specific as well as general. Data is included on the shire overall, as well as detailed information about 21 localities across the shire,” Cr Heenan said.
